The items are fairly useless this time around, typically serving less as puzzle tools, and more as "person bluntly asked to trade for said items". It also didn't hook me like the first game had game play wise. Character sprites are excellent in the game, and each character has a lot of polish. The game felt very 2 dimensional, with it being in perfect straight lines the whole game.

Something about the homey aspects of Dammek's Hive and Half-Harley Manor gave some cool vibes to the game, that aren't fully present in Hiveswap Act 2. The soundtrack was done by the amazingly skilled James Roach and Toby Fox! The graphics are also not as good as the first game. I still have ticket to ride stuck in my head lol. The sequel to Hiveswap is out, and it's pretty cool!! There are some amazing parts of the game, such as the soundtrack, which is very colorful and silly, while also great at setting the tone. Noticeably lower stakes than the first act Overall, i found this game very enjoyable, with occasional rough patches.

I am understanding with the games spotty pacing though, as it allows joey to get familiar with the basic structure of alternain society, which will in turn likely lead to more genuine characterization later on. It has little to do with the overall plot, and takes up about about a third of the game. Although i found it fun, it definitely wont be everybody's cup of tea.
#HIVESWAP CHARACTERS TRIAL#
There are no parts that i found insufferable, but the trial section was a notable drag - There is a fairly large section of the game that is heavily inspired by the ace attorney games. However, the pacing is a much spottier than in the first one. This game was a very pleasant experience! Some things of note, including good things, bad things, and a bunch of other things in between - This game was a very pleasant experience! Some things of note, including good things, bad things, and a bunch of other things in between - Great Soundtrack - Charming visuals - Great characters - Fun puzzles - Great characters - Much longer than the first act (about 7 hours compared to 3).
